Heartfelt sympathy to Susan, Paul, Alan & Arale
John did so much for so many! Years ago, recall my mother (a patient of Dr. Vallely) describing him as "a Prince of a Man". When Deacon John became aware that my husband Jack, (hearing impaired), was unable to fully hear his homilies he emailed them to him. What a welcome treat that was. Now he was "in the game"!
John's life showed he always had a purpose. His loving family were, in large part, that springboard from which he gained strength & turned it into Action.
Well done John & Well done Family!
Jack & Donna Condon

Dear Susan,
It was with great sadness and shock that I learned of John’s death. What a great loss for you and your sons. I always admired the loving relationship and mutual respect that was always evident between the two of you. You were true partners. Please know that I will keep you in my daily prayers. It was an honour and pleasure to work with John on the Diaconate Admissions Committee these past 12 years. John always treated everyone with dignity and respect. His sharp intellect and organizational skills were a tremendous gift to the Diaconate program and to the Diocese as a whole. The legacy he leaves behind will continue to benefit us for many years to come. He will be missed by so many. My sincere condolences. Connie Cote

Dear Susan and Family.....I was saddened to learn of John's passing, and thought back to the many years we worked together in the Department of Surgery at St. Joe's. John was always kind, competent, considerate, and was a valued colleague. He was also instrumental in organizing a course in ethics for the surgical trainees. I was glad to learn that he became a Deacon, and continued to help the parishioners in his parish family, just as he had helped so many of his surgical patients. God Bless you, John.....Brian

Dear Father Martin,
I am so sorry to hear about your brother's passing. I'm sure this is a difficult time for you and the rest of your family. But I also know you will draw strength and comfort from our heavenly Father. Your brother has been welcomed into God's heavenly kingdom and he is most definitely free from pain and suffering. How wonderful to know that your brother is being wrapped in our Lord's loving arms, and knows what complete joy & peace feel like. Even though you have been left to grieve this great loss, I pray that you will take comfort in knowing you will be together again when God calls you to join Him, as well as your loving family members, to live in His house forever. Until that day comes, may you be richly blessed by God, and continue His work here on earth. You are such a wonderful priest and you have helped so many people grow closer to God. I know you will be richly rewarded, when you reach God's heavenly kingdom. My thoughts, prayers and sincere condolences are being sent to you, dear Father Martin. With love & blessings

There is something to be said... about a brother-in-law who was such a good person in his efforts... that he had THREE names: John (by birth), J.F. (John Francis), and Jeff (a contraction of 'JF'). We called him a few others when we, frustratingly, couldn't match his wit. He was always close to a smile, and his humour usually caused him to laugh before anyone else, as we finally 'got' what he meant. His gentleness and intellect always made you feel you were in the presence of ...the better part of humanity. Thanks for being such a fine part of our lives, and therefore, part of us. We won't forget.
