It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Patrick William Gowdy, on the morning of Friday September 24.

Pat, born in Windsor, Ontario March 2, 1957, is the loving father of Matt (Erin), Sandra Panzer (Derek), Dave, Colin (Lauren), and Lisa (Riley), former spouse of Nancy and the loving grandfather (“Pops”) of Layla.

Dear brother of John, the late Tom, Jane, Paul, Anne, Peter, and Martha. Along with Tom, Pat now joins his parents, Molly and Bill, and his good friend/mentor, Tim McDonald, in heaven.

Pat’s friends called him “Gums” because he never stopped smiling. He grew up playing hockey with many lifetime friends, including later in life alongside his brother Tom. Pat was an avid golfer and had been a member of the Highland Country Club for the past several years, recently finishing 8th place in his flight at the Club Championship (winning $80 in the process).

Pat taught and led a number of elementary schools throughout the London District Catholic School Board, directing shows, coaching teams and building outdoor skating rinks. He also inspired a number of teachers throughout their careers, including his own daughter, Lisa, and daughter-in-laws, Erin and Lauren.

Here’s to a “great” guy, Pat Gowdy.
