Obituary of John Devlin
John Devlin died peacefully at home on Friday, May 3, 2019 in his 92nd year. Son of the late Peter Devlin and Catherine (Brennan) Devlin. John was the beloved husband of Barbara (nee Jewell) for 62 years. Dear father to Peter (Judy) and Sandy (Peter), and grandfather to John (Kourtney), Laura, Paul (Sasha), Mark, Alexandra, Andrew, Sean and Brendon. John was predeceased by his brother Peter and sisters May and Kathleen. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. John was born in India and raised in England. He came to Canada as a young man in 1954 following rewarding service in The Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers of the British Army. He had a varied manufacturing engineering career in several companies and retired from Fanshawe College in 1993. John loved to dance with his wife Barbara, play cards, golf, do crosswords and read. John will mostly be remembered for his love of music and singing. He loved all the old tunes and was always humming as he walked the halls of Richmond Woods, frequently breaking out into song. John went to the gym and swam everyday as he believed exercise was important. His proudest accomplishments in life were Peter, Sandy and his grandchildren. Friends and family may gather at Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, London, Ontario on Sunday, May 5, 2019 from 1-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fanshawe College Foundation.
