Dr. Bidinosti was my chemistry professor in first year university. I never had him again which was unfortunate because he was an incredible teacher.
However, the impact that he had on my life was far more profound than most would expect from a first year prof. You see I had not done well in his class and met with him to see if I had passed. He sat down with me, told me my mark (barely a pass) and then addressed me as Mr Hadley as he advised me to develop some discipline in life if I hoped to be successful in university.
His words stuck with me to this day, mostly because he was right and had been the only person with the courage to say it and the insight to know I needed it.
Eventually I heeded his advice but admittedly, it took a while.
I saw him again about 10 years ago in north London and actually had the opportunity to relay the impact he had on my life. Of course he didn’t remember the chat but he smiled and was glad to discover to took his words to heart.
To his family I wish to pass on my condolences. Your husband, father, grampa was a great man who had a huge influence on many students because he was such a good professor.
To Dr Bidinosti......... thank you.
