My deepest condolences Lionel to you and your family.
I had the good fortune to work along with Linda while I was at West Ferris in the 1990's. What a pleasure it was to have Linda on staff. She was innovative, creative and a dynamic teacher of English. She was able to "connect" with students of various ability levels and she was especially good at getting reluctant readers and writers to participate fully in her classes. She was an extraordinary educator and a loyal colleague. She will be greatly missed but she will have made a huge impact on the lives of many students in the North Bay area.
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

Dear Lionel, Julie, and Daniel:
Pat and I are very sorry to hear that Linda has passed away. We are struggling with disbelief and sadness.
Linda was a wonderful woman who gave us her love and friendship. She was so proud of her family and spoke of you all often, especially her darling grand-children. She loved music and we had many nights when we took turns choosing songs and then listening to each others' picks. And laughing. I will always remember her laugh...it seemed to come as a surprise, as if she was listening intently, then realized the humour, and had a great laugh. Her good humour was unfailing.
Linda embodied the good qualities that we all aspire to...love for others, caring, consideration, respect for all, and a wonderful attitude of openness to new people and situations. Linda was a genuine person without artifice or pretentiousness.
We will miss her very much. We are deeply saddened by her passing and want you to know that we offer our sympathy...we understand that you will grieve forever. Please know that we will think of you often.
Lionel, you are our good friend and we will endeavour to help and bring our caring to you as you transition without Linda.
Love from
Pat and Linda

Mrs.Desjardins taught me at West Ferris SS in the early 90s. Simply - she was the reason I am a teacher today.
She was the type of teacher who held high expectations for her students while still being engaging, enthusiastic and differentiated. Thinking about her now - she was ahead of her time. She was an inspiration and a wonderful model of the type of teacher I want to be: spirit-filled, student-centered with high standards for students.
She took pies in the face for fundraising, made memorable assignments for her challenging English classes, wrote genuine, heart-felt reference letters and inspired me to teach. I hope to be half the teacher to my kids as she was to me.

Mrs. Desjardin was such my English teacher, and she was great. She really encouraged a love of literature, and thinking about what you were reading instead of just accepting information at face value. I still remember studying 'The Diviners' with her, way back in the 80s, because she was so successful in getting all of us interested in the novel. She had a very positive impact on all of us.

Lionel, Julie and Daniel. Please accept our sincere heartfelt condolences. Theresa and I are very saddened to hear of Linda's passing. Linda was such a special person who lit up a room with her joy, smiles and laughter - such a wonderful person. I have such fond memories of taking our principals course together. We had such fun and she made it so. Her personality was such that everyone wanted to be around her. I will always remember when she walked into SJSH that I made it point to see her - she had that way of putting a smile on people's faces. She was a very special lady. Lionel, our time together at SJSH is a highlight of my career. You guided and supported me as a new VP. I learned so much from your leadership and how you set a standard of care for students for many of us to reach.
