Obituary of Thomas Wesley Ball
Ball, Thomas Wesley
It is with overwhelming sadness we announce the passing of Tom Ball, on Friday, May 4, 2018 at LHSC - Victoria Hospital, with his loving family by his side, in his 81st year. Beloved husband of 52 years and best friend of Irene (nee Innes). Adored father of Brenda Graham, Barbara Ball (Durant D'Intino), Joyce Downie (Dale) and John Hughes. Cherished Pops of Kelly Graham, Stephanie Downie (Richard Voakes), Felicia Hughes, Candice Hughes and great grandchildren Maxine, Lucas, Kennedy and Jackson. Predeceased by parents William and Rhoda Ball and sister Maryanne Ball. Tom was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario where he obtained his degree in 1960 from Ryerson in Chemical Technology. Afterwards Tom moved to Stratford and worked for Standard Motor Products before joining The Ford Motor Company of Oakville in 1964. Tom was transferred to London in 1967 prior to the completion of the Talbotville plant. He remained with Ford as a Supervisor in the Quality Control Department until his retirement in 1995, after 31 years. After retirement Tom taught computer science night courses at Fanshawe College. Throughout his life Tom was an avid skier. With his wife Irene, daughter Barb and a group of friends they spent a week every winter skiing a different location. From Vail, Aspen, Telluride in the Western U.S. to Whistler and Panorama in Canada. Tom never stopped skiing and attained his Ski Patrol Level 2 in 2005. In later years he taught skiing at Boler Mountain in London. The balance of the year Tom spent his time on the tennis courts and golf courses. He did admit he was much better at tennis than golf even though he was in the Masters League at Hickory Ridge Golf & Country Club for many years. Tom was an extraordinary, knowledgeable, fun-loving person. He will be forever loved, missed and remembered by his family, friends and fur baby Tess. Cremation has taken place. Our heartfelt gratitude to the Critical Care Trauma Centre nursing team for their care, compassion and honesty. There will be a casual open house on Saturday, May 12th between 1-4pm at the Highland Country Club, 1922 Highland Heights, in London. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
