Obituary of Ella Smith

Smith Ella Miss Ella Smith "Aunt Ella", daughter of the late Alexander Smith and Ellen Smith (McConville), was born February 1, 1924 in New Stevenston, Scotland. Ella had two brothers, John (Cathleen) and Alexander (Sheila). The three of them grew up at the Smyllum Orphanage in Lanark, Scotland as their parents passed away when they were infants. Brother John resided in Australia. Brother Alexander, predeceased (2011), remained in Scotland. In 1957, Ella moved to Canada and was welcomed into the home of her Uncle David Peel and Aunt Bessie Peel (McConville). In 1967, Ella became a Canadian citizen and was always proud to call Canada her home. Ella is known as "Aunt Ella" to all of her cousin's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She has played an important roll in many of their lives. Aunt Ella will be greatly missed by her dear friends Lucille Vita & Jean Ganner, the Peel Family, the Mitchell Family and her beloved Cameron Forgues & her namesake Ella Forgues. Visitors will be received at the John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, London on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 o'clock where the Catholic Funeral Service will be held on Monday morning at 11 am. Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery.
