Obituary of Josephus Haasen

Haasen, Josephus (Jos) Mathys - Passed away peacefully at McGarrell Place, London, on March 17, 2018 in his 90th year. Forever remembered by his loving wife Johanna (Jo) of 58 years. Loving father of John (Stephanie) Haasen and Joanne (Perry) Pettigrew. Proud Opa of Alexandra, Matthew, Connor and Dylan Predeceased by his brothers Ties, Jan and Toon, and survived and sadly missed by his twin sisters Anna and Miet in Holland, his sisters-in-law Drika (the late Ties) and Leny (Peter) in Canada, and many other family members in Holland including nieces, nephews, and friends in Canada and Holland. Following his marriage to Jo, Jos immigrated to Canada in 1960 devoting himself to his profession as a bricklayer for 35 years. He enjoyed having all kinds of animals as pets, was an avid gardener, repairman and builder, bee keeper and woodworker winning prizes for his work. A special thank you to the staff at Inspirit Residences and McGarrell Place who cared for Jos so well after his strokes. Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street on Wednesday, March 21st, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Divine Church, 390 Baseline Road West, on Thursday morning at 11 am followed by a luncheon there. Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery will be at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation would be appreciated. Online condolences may be made at donohue@donohuefuneralhome.ca.
