Obituary of Dorothy Margaret (Sister St. Edward) Grace
The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada, London Neighbourhood, announce the sudden death of our dear Sister St. Edward Grace at the Residence of the Sisters of St. Joseph at 485 Windermere Road in London, on Wednesday, February 28, 2018.
Sister St. Edward (Dorothy Margaret) Grace was born in Lucan, Ontario, on March 14, 1925, and joined the Community of the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1949.
She is remembered with affection by all her CSJ Sisters as well as her sister-in-law, Patricia Grace, and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her mother, Nellie (Brown), her father Joseph, her sisters Marion Goodnuff (Earl) and Corinne Hick (Harold), and brothers Joseph (Patricia), and William Grace.
Sister St. Edward was best known for her years as a nurse in St. Joseph's Hospitals in Sarnia, Chatham and London, and in Killam General Hospital in Killam, Alberta. Later she worked as admissions coordinator at St. Mary's Hospital, London. Known for her superior diagnostic skills and her powers of observation, she was an outstanding and compassionate nurse. Always ready with quick wit and a great sense of humour, she covered a very warm and sensitive heart with a twinkle in her eye and a wry comment. She was fiercely independent, even in her last days, preferring to do things for herself rather than to receive help. She will be greatly missed by her family, her CSJ Sisters, and all who knew her.
All services will be held at the Sisters of St. Joseph Residence, 485 Windermere Road. Visitation will be on Friday, March 2, 2018, 2:30-4:00pm and 7:00-8:00 pm with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11:00 am Reverend Richard Charrette presiding. Visitation from 9:30 -10:45.
Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery.
