Obituary of Mary Joan McAllister

McAllister, Joan – Peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, February 8th, 2018, Joan McAllister of London, formerly of Port Franks, in her 86th year. Born in Charlottetown, PEI, on May 10, 1932. Beloved wife of the late James McAllister (2003). Proud mother of Krista Lake (Davey) and James (Linda) and Susan (Kevin). Cherished grandmother of Daniel (Laura), Gavin, Morgan, Leah (Ryan), Jenna (Leif), Dayne and great-grandmother of Rechelle and Landon, Spencer and Charlee. Dear sister of Patricia Murray (George) and the late Phyllis Cronin. She will be fondly remembered by her son-in-law Shannon Lake, many friends from Port Franks, as well as her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Joan volunteered with Birthright in London and then went on to work at William Proudfoot House as a counsellor, she was also a member of the Catholic Women's League. Joan's family would like to thank the volunteers from St. George Church who would come visit her at home, as well as Dr. Catherine Walsh for her compassion and care. Visitors will be received at St. George Church, 1164 Commissioners Road West, on Monday, February 12th, 2018 from 11:30 until the time of the Funeral Mass at 12:30 pm.
