She was one of the sweetest women I knew, she taught me at Holy Cross and was there long after I was. Always had a smile and a soft touch. I had the pleasure as an adult to have her as patient at my clinic and she remembered me instantley and always had the biggest smile. I could never get over calling her by her first name as she had asked, I still addressed her as Mrs McLaughlin..I think of her often.
You where truly blessed. My thoughts go out to you and all the family.

Aunt Mary has always had a special place in my heart. I remember visiting her in London when I was a little girl and she seemed to have the warmest hugs of anyone I had ever met. I always looked forward to seeing her at the McLaughlin family reunions, or by chance at a baby shower or wedding. My father Peter spoke frequently and fondly of Mary and was ever grateful for the love and care she and Uncle Bert showed to him both in his younger years and throughout his life. Mary was thoughtful and generous and I always looked forward to a card / note from her over the holidays, after the birth of a child, or other life events. Please accept my most sincere condolences and I wish I could be there with you all to celebrate her wonderful life. Liz & Dave Martin (Schnurr) Halifax, NS

My heart goes out to all the members of the McLaughlin family. I have wonderful memories of your Mom from spending so much time at your house when I was a child. Mrs McLaughlin was loved by everyone! She always had time for the friends of her children, always had a smile and made me feel so welcome in your home and even like another daughter :) You were all so fortunate to have such a loving and kind Mom who adored all of you. She will be missed.

I met Mary when I was a teenager so she has been my big sister for more than 60 years. Often I have declared that Mary was more like my mother than any of Mother's daughters were. Both were strong, gentle, loving and kind; both were genuinely interested in people. Whoever talked to Mary sensed that interest and responded by speaking freely about their feelings and doings. I observed it especially when young visitors talked to her and I found that I too confided in her more than I would have with others.
Mary was a superb teacher whom I consulted if I needed advice or moral support.. When I was teaching in God's River she sent me a large package of learning materials, because she knew I had no access to teaching supplies up there.
Mary was a superb mother; you see the proof in her family and it continues in her grandchildren and now her great-grandchildren.
Mary used every moment of her time, hooking rugs, quilting, knitting. Once she and I waited for Rita to pick us up. Rita said "Ten minutes" so we waited outside the house on Laurentian but my sister-in-law noticed the grass looking dry so she watered the lawn and put the hose away when she saw Rita's car. Use those minutes!
I will miss having her at the end of a phone. I will miss those chats.
We will all miss Mary.

My deepest sympathies to my "second family", the Family of our beloved Mary. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. My heart is broken as Mary has always meant the world to me. She was known as my "Mom Mary" and I have loved her as long as I can remember. She always had a beautiful smile and warm wonderful hug. Mary was indeed one of God's Angels who was shared with us long before God took her home to be reunited with Bert. I will miss her so very much. Love to all of you.
