Members of the Bonk and Benbow Families,
It is with great sadness that I learned of Barb's passing. I first met her when she was an elementary school student attending St. John's School in the 1960's. During the span from 1960 to 1967 I was fortunate enough to teach students in grades 6 through 8 at this memorable school. Over those years I was lucky enough to have several Bonk family members in my class. As one would expect each had his or her own unique personality. However, one constant trait seemed to be a shyness and a sense of joy in life and a sense of humour. I am not sure of the exact year that Barb was in my class, but, I assume 1964. I remember her as a quiet, unassuming young lady who was kind and considerate of everyone with whom she had contact. She was well liked by her peers and her teachers. She was never a pushy type of person. I would be willing to bet that Barb as an adult was a person whose exemplary traits were her kindness, consideration and love of others, especially her family.
As the decades have passed I have lost contact with all of the Bonk children with the exception of Bernie. I was fortunate enough to be Principal of St. Martin School during the time Bernie's and Debbie's children attended there.
Carrie,Sarah and Paula,
Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your mom. No doubt her passing has left a giant hole in your heart that will partly heal with the passage of time. May she rest in Peace!
