Dear cousins, your partners, children and grandchildren ,
Sincere condolences for the loss of your mother, mother in law, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Truus played an important role in our family. Example of a brave woman with a beautiful character. An unbelievable work ethic and always positive minded. At late age she flew by her own to the Netherlands! Without doubt you will miss her enormously.
Truus has a very special place in my heart. She was the one who gave my brother and me an unforgettable holiday in 1974, together with uncle Martien and of course her children, our cousins. The welcome we received couldn’t have been any warmer and we got so indulged by her! She would do anything to make us feel comfortable!
From stories of our parents we knew that we had an uncle and aunt in a faraway country. They were immigrated and thereby disappeared for good out of people’s lives here…
It was impressive to see how our uncle and aunt were living their life in a faraway country. Our parents could have also chosen to immigrate, whereupon our life would have looked very different. That is what I really realized when I was staying at your place. It’s hard to imagine how she and Martien have had to pioneer to get settled in the far away and complete new Canada. Going back was no options in those days. Persevering and working enormously hard were the only remedy to keep on going. Just when things were getting good for them, her loved one passed away, far too young. It was admirable how she went on with her life, still always very positive.
We know that all our lives are coming to an end one day, but when after 95 years the time is finally there, it seems strange and unreal, that such a special women suddenly is simply not there anymore. Her death did cut of your roots to the past. A very agitated past, a past that is beautiful and precious, due to her. These past times are unfortunately even more definite ended because of her death. And that’s what really hurts.
I feel honored to have known her so personally. Truus was a wonderful woman, someone to be proud of thinking back to! And for you specially, being her son or grandchild.
Our most sincere condolences!
Jan Ottens likewise on the behalf of Marij.

Hi John and Van Wiechen family
First of all I'm very sorry to read this message, and send you, Sue, Tony, Colleen, Peter, Kim, Frank and his wife, Mike and Jackie, all the grandchildren my deepest condolences. That something can go so fast, is unbelievable. She was so vital doing things, busy all day. I'm glad that Miranda and I've attended on her 90th birthday, gives us a special feeling we'll never forget. She was such a hospitalbe woman, one was always welcome, we loved to come over for a holiday or a special birthday. She made you feel welcome, everything was possible, nothing was to much to ask or to do. Since the first time that my mom and I came over in 1978, till now I consider this period as a special period of my , my mothers, Miranda's live that we'll never forget, and take this thought in our heart.
Take care
Jos

Remembering Theresa,
We were CWL members at Holy Cross in the 70's and I remember Theresa as a loving hard working lady. Her faith, her family and her friends were very important to her.
We moved to Manitoba and came back to Ontario where our kids were at Holy Rosary and CCH.
She remembered us when our daughter passed at age 30 with a letter and kind words; what a wonderful mom you guys had, we are sorry for your loss but know that she is in arms of her LORD. We will keep Theresa in our thoughts and well as her boys and their families.
Godspeed,
the van der Laan's
