Obituary of Dennis James O'Connor

O’Connor, Dennis James Passed away peacefully with his family by his side in his 85th year at Chelsey Park Retirement Community in London, Ontario on Monday, January 30, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Margaret, father to Tim (Sandra Halloran), Kathleen (Laurin Perra), Patrick (Ysabel Laura), Peggy (Bruno Marchand), and Sean; and grandfather to Corey and Sean O’Connor, Josée and Marie Marchand, Kylie Rowed, Siobhan and Emily Mellors. A man of great passion and a soft heart, Dennis was a loving man who cherished his family and friends. He laughed heartily, debated with vigour and could be counted on for tears at sad and joyful occasions. A gifted athlete and a great fan, he was always fully immersed in his other great loves—golf, curling, hockey and baseball, especially his beloved Blue Jays. After working on the railroad and pitching sandlot baseball, he enjoyed a thriving career in the general insurance business, retiring in 1991 after successful partnership in Adam-McNee Limited. Special thanks to the staff at Chelsey Park who loved Dennis and he loved back. We are grateful to everyone who made Dad comfortable and his world a little brighter at Chelsey Park. And thanks to Dr. Gerald Bigham, Dr. Norman Muirhead and the dialysis and kidney specialists at University Hospital. Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street in London, ON, on Thursday, Feb. 2 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral Mass is Friday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Parish, 777 Valetta St, London, ON. Interment at St. Peter's Cemetery at a later date. In Dennis’s memory, donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.
