Obituary of Mary Dympna Corrigan
MARY DYMPNA CORRIGAN (Nee MARNELL)
Born Dublin, Ireland, May 20, 1930, passed away suddenly but peacefully at
Providence Healthcare, Toronto, Ontario on December 19th, 2016. Dympna was
a devoted Roman Catholic and a proud (Gold pin) member of the Pioneer
Total Abstinence Association of Ireland. She emigrated to Canada from
Dublin in 1953 and married Edward Corrigan of Fermanagh, Ireland at St.
Martin of Tours R.C Church, London on October 30th, 1954. Ed remained her
life-long dancing partner until his death on Jan 17, 2001. Together they
built a large number of homes in the London area as they raised their
family. Both Dympna and Ed enjoyed travelling and returned to Ireland
frequently. They escaped the snow and the cold by migrating to Florida
each winter in their later years. She will be fondly remembered by all
who knew her and sadly missed by those who loved her. Dympna was
predeceased by her parents, Charles Stewart and Maryann Marnell (O'Kane),
her brothers Sylvester Marnell (Syl), Cahal Marnell and by her beloved
sister Kathleen Gleeson, all of Dublin, Ireland and predeceased by her
devoted husband, Edward Corrigan of London, Ontario. She is survived by
her brother Anthony Marnell (Dublin, Ireland) and her three children;
Edward C. Corrigan, Michael P. Corrigan (Terran Kechego-Corrigan) of
London, Ontario and Kathleen M. Corrigan (Paul Young) of Toronto, Ontario.
Visitation will take place Thursday, December 22nd from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
at Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo St., London, ON. A Funeral Mass will
be held at St. George Catholic Church, 1164 Commissioners Rd W., London,
ON on Friday, December 23rd at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place
following the service (family only).
