Obituary of Johanna Gerardina Gooyers

GOOYERS (GEERTS), Johanna Gerardina - 89, peacefully, with her loving family by her side, Johanna “Jo” had her journey in this world end on August 20, 2016. She was born April 29, 1927 in Chaam, The Netherlands. Loving wife of the late Adrian Gooyers (2013), they are now together again. Proud mother of Adrian (Sherry), Lia Arner (Jim), Chris (Tracy), Cobina Sauder (Steve), Joanne Gough (Doug), and Mary Christopher (David). Predeceased by infant son Brian (1970). Beloved Oma to 18 grandchildren: Christopher (Stephanie), Meghan (Ryan), Leah; Lindsay (Matt), Suzanne (Nicholas); Aaron, Brian, Kendra, Matthew; Joanna, Janel, Marlee; Jocelyn, Andrea, Ian, Sean; Nathan and Nicholas. Great Oma to Lilly, Reese, and Evelyn. Johanna is survived by brothers Peter, Jan and Janus; predeceased by brothers Harry, Louis and sisters Bets and Riet. Johanna immigrated to Canada in 1953 to join the love of her life, marrying Adrian on April 20, 1953. She worked hard on their farm on the hill near London and enjoyed an amazing life filled with love. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. (Prayers will be held at 8:30 p.m.) on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo St., London. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at MARY IMMACULATE PARISH, 1980 Trafalgar St., London on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Dorchester Union Cemetery. The Gooyers family wish to thank the many caregivers who embraced their mother with such compassion and respect. She was so appreciative of your kindness, trying to know each of you by name.
