Obituary of William George Phillips

PHILLIPS, William (Bill) - Surrounded by his loved ones, passed away peacefully at London Health Sciences Centre - University Hospital on July 2nd, 2016 in his 78th year. Bill was the loving husband of Patricia (Halliwell). They recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. Son of Rita (O'Gorman) and Harold Helmer. Proud father of Sue Wastell (Doug) and Heather Damaren (Dave). Survived by his brother Walt (Barb) of Chatham, sisters Ann and Patti of London, and predeceased by his sister Gail. Loving grandpa of Cooper, Mason, Julia, Reno and Norah. Bill retired from 3M after nearly 40 years of service, was an avid classic car enthusiast, loved boating, and travelling to western Canada and to Florida. He had a love of history and continuous learning, returning to university after retirement to earn his Honours Bachelor of Geography from UWO. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Visitors will be received at the John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Wednesday, July 6th from 11 o'clock until the time of the Memorial Service at 12 noon. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.
