I wish to extend my deepest sympathies to the Twohey family on the loss of their beloved Grace Ann.
I first met G.A in 1969. when we worked together at Catholic Family Services in London, ON. She became my teacher, mentor, colleague and very good friend. As we got to know each other, we also became "happy hour" pals. G.A. would invite me to her apartment after work to de-brief the day & to socialize over rye & ginger and her famous pickled eggs. As the socializing extended beyond the appropriate "happy hour" time and often well into the late evening, it would be more than the eggs that were pickled. On occasion, a neighbor Mrs. Chesseman would join us and then the party would really begin.
I also travelled with G.A. to Antigua & Jamaica to escape the brutal London winters. It made for great times and great memories of interesting people met and adventures experienced.
G.A. was a remarkable woman. She was intelligent, compassionate, caring, empathetic, loyal, funny and mischievous. She lived by a strong moral code of values & ethics which guided and influenced her life. She believed that it was her duty and responsibility to do what was right, even when it cost her dearly, which at times it did. As they say, G.A. "walked the talk".
G.A. loved her family and took great pride in them. If you spent time with her, you began to feel as if you knew them all personally as she loved to tell you all about their achievements and adventures. I expect they were as proud & loving of her as she was of them.
hroughout her social work career, she helped countless numbers of people, making a significant difference in their lives. It can be said of G.A. that she helped make the world a better place and her presence in it will be greatly missed.
Farewell old friend.... until we meet again....
