Obituary of Gisele Hamilton
Hamilton, Gisele – Surrounded by her four children after a brief illness on Friday, January 17th, 2025, Gisele Hamilton (nee Fontaine) in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late Lawrence Hamilton. Loving mother of Larry (Cheryl), Murray (Cindy), Judy Devlin (Peter), and Paul (Jacquie). Dear grandmother of Nicole, John, Danielle, Laura, Paul, Mark, Taylor, Anne, Matthew, James, Mary and great-grandmother to Max, Rhett, Ava, Sheppard, Jayden, Jordyn and Nova. The last of her siblings, Gisele is survived by her brother-in-law Claude Seguin and many nieces and nephews from the Ottawa area.
Strong in her faith, a long-time parishioner of St. Michael’s Parish, she spent her life volunteering at her children’s schools and her church, chaperoning trips and running bingos long after her kids had graduated. This volunteering continued right to the end of her life where she was known for her beautiful whistling as she volunteered at Richmond Woods Retirement Residences. She worked at Wolseley Barracks for many years. Family meant everything to Gisele. You could always find her at a ball diamond, soccer field, hockey rink, or attending choir school concerts, art shows, or cadet parades. An avid card and games player, she enjoyed this pastime with her family and friends. Gisele excelled in basketball, volleyball, softball, and bowling through her school years. This grew into her love of the London Knights, Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Blue Jays, figure skating, curling and golf in her later years. She has already left a huge hole in our hearts. We would like to thank Drs. Castronovo, Stack and Hamilton, the nurses from St. Elizabeth’s and the VON HCTs for their amazing care of our mom in her final days.
Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo St. London on Monday, January 20th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm with prayers at 3:45 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael’s Church, 511 Cheapside St., on Tuesday, January 21st, at 10 am. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
