Obituary of Betty Henry
Marie “Betty” Elizabeth Henry (Chrzan) 1947-2024
Betty Henry (Chrzan) age 77, died peacefully surrounded by family on November 29th after a four-month battle with a rare form of cancer. She leaves behind Pat, her beloved husband of 54 years, her sons James (Christine), and Rob (Daiva). Along with her pride and joy granddaughters Jamie, Emily, Alyssa and Lauren. Dear sister to Charles (Liz) and Janet Pinsonneault (Wayne). Betty will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-laws.
Betty began her career as a registered Dietician and took a pause to care for her young children. Later in life, Betty wanted to share her love for knowledge through teaching. She embraced the challenge of going back to school in 1995 and became a certified elementary school teacher. Throughout her life Betty volunteered her time with organizations such as the Boy Scouts of Canada, Grand Bend Adult Day Program, Meals on Wheels, the CWL and the Grand Bend Horticultural Society among many others. Upon retirement, Betty traveled and explored the world, enjoying winters in Florida, never missing an opportunity to learn new things, cherishing time with family and sharing her love with all.
Betty was an avid reader and loved gardening, but her true passion was as an amateur genealogist. She spent countless hours pursuing and documenting family history back hundreds of years. She also eagerly accepted the opportunity to trace family roots of many friends and acquaintances.
The family would like to sincerely thank the doctors and staff at the Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre and the Parkwood Palliative Care Unit for their incredible care and support during Betty’s courageous journey.
