Obituary of Mike Conlon

Conlon, John Michael

September 16, 1952 - July 27, 2024

John Michael Conlon, affectionately known as Mike, passed away peacefully at home in London, Ontario, on July 27, 2024, at the age of 71. Born in Lachine, Quebec, on September 16, 1952, Mike’s journey through life was marked by his dedication to his family, his community, and his faith.

Mike was married to Yvonne, for 49 years. Together, they raised five children and their families: Clare and Andrew Murray, Stephen and Jennifer Conlon, Tim and Amanda Conlon, Joseph Conlon and Laura Shaw, and Margaret and Nev Hutchinson. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Katelyn, Carter, Nicole, Leah, Ryan, Paige, Grace, David, Rhodes, and the twins, Abigail and Brooke. Mike is also survived by his siblings: Christine Conlon-Keast and Mike Keast, Ann Marie and Mike Nittoly, Maureen Crawford, Mary and David Butler and John and Joan Conlon. Mike was predeceased by his parents, Gerald and Theresa Conlon, and his brother-in-law, Bill Crawford.

Growing up in Montreal, then Scarborough, and eventually Woodstock, Mike finally settled in London. He dedicated 28 years of his life to educating young minds, retiring from Catholic Central High School after a fulfilling career in both elementary and secondary schools.

A man of deep faith, Mike was an active member of St. Martin’s Church. His commitment to helping others extended to volunteering at St. Joseph’s soup kitchen and collecting Coats for Kids.

Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street, London, Ontario on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. A Funeral Mass to celebrate Mike’s life will be held at St. Francis-St. Martin’s Catholic Church, 46 Cathcart Street, London, Ontario on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at 10:00am.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the church at https://dol-lscfop-sfsm.pllenty.com in Mike’s memory.
