We were so sorry to hear of the death of Richard. My friends and I remember him well from his days as pianist with Northern Ballet (Leeds UK). One of my friends often gave him a lift home from touring venues and he kept us amused with his anecdotes about music. I remember hime once saying that classical music should not be made into pop music and I quipped "not even Pictures at an Exhibition". We then heard all about how Keith Emerson was one of his favourite musicians and, of course, ELP did it brilliantly. He will be very sadly missed and we would like to send sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

My daughter dances at The National Ballet of Canada . She loved when Mr. Herriott was the pianist in her class. He was very kind and an incredibly talented musician. He brought a bit of magic into the studio which everyone could feel. He will be greatly missed.

Deirdre and I have known Richard since the family first came to Newfoundland. Deirdre and our two children, Tara & Nicholas, would visit them regularly for weekends. They lived in New Melbourne 100km from St. John's when the only road was dirt and gravel. We had the most marvelous weekends tramping round their forest, damming streams and playing board games. The favorite was Stockticker. I think we were the only ones who travelled regularly to New Melbourne to see them. Eventually the Herriott;s moved to St.John's to a large house on Le Marchant Road. Richard continued his piano lessons and eventually moved to the UK. Unfortunately we lost touch with Richard but did connect from time to time..the last time a couple of months ago.
For many years Richard was part of our extended family in Newfoundland. He was highly gifted, dedicated and kind to all. As a family we are saddened by his demise.

I am an adult student at the National Ballet School. Richard enchanted us with his beautiful music in our classes. I also remember sitting near the door of empty classes to enjoy him playing music. He was so gifted and passionate. He will be missed.
Thank you so much Richard,
Suzanne Lord

Mr. Herriott will be greatly missed by the students at NBS. My daughters, Gwen and Rachel, remember Mr. Herriott as always friendly, encouraging of their own piano studies, and how happy he was while playing the piano for their dance classes. His creative spirit will always be remembered.

My name is Robert Dinn. I am lucky enough to remember Richard from our brief friendship at Holy Cross school in St.John's in the 70's. We had great discussions about music, and such back then. We shared the same sence of humor, I remember we used to laugh so hard, I can still remember vividly his huge smile. I heard he had passed listening to C.B.C. radio while working. Sad that he's gone at such a young age. I would have loved to had a chance to chat and laugh about the old days and catch up. My condolences to all his family and close friends.
