I worked with Allan for many years at NYGH. He was a fine gentleman.
I never figured out his shoes. He wore these old worn out shoes held together by pink waterproof tape.
I was with him on his last day in endoscopy. I was shocked when he just threw them out. I assumed that he would have them bronzed.
I was tempted to remove them from the garbage.
He was always gentlemanly and kind.
It was nice to see him at rounds for a few years even after he retired.
My condolences to Georgia and the family.

I was very saddened to hear about the loss of Allan. I knew him since I was an intern (in the old days) at NYGH. He was special, a great colleague and mentor. My deepest condolences to Georgia and his family. May his memory be a blessing.

Alan was a perennial humanitarian. He was kind, and affable, and really one of the very few distinguished physicians (and people) I would call a role model. I will forever remember his calm and good nature, and of course, the duct tape holding together his ageless shoes. My condolences to the family, and gratitude for taking care of such a great man.

Dear Georgia and family: My deepest sympathy on your loss. Allan and I had our medical offices across the hall from each other for almost 25 years, and I have fond memories of his visits at the end of the day for a chat. He was at the centre of great conversations in the NYGH doctors’ lounge; he was well-like by both medical staff and his patients. Allan’s love of his family was very evident – may your memories of this love give you comfort.

Dear Georgia,
Please accept my condolences on the passing of your beloved Allan.
He was an excellent gastroenterologist who capably gave me excellent diagnoses each time I saw him.
He was caring and compassionate and fit me into seeing him if need be.
I was always interested in chatting with him and Georgia about their other interests and travels.
He also had a great sense of humour. I will never forget him.

An early lifetime of Sunday night dinners at the Hart house is a highlight of my life. It was a gathering place of great food and lively conversation, debate and even a few arguments. And despite the volume, the dining room table on Cheltenham was a place that I always felt welcome- and safe. And damn, if we didn't all learn how to clean up afterwards! Thank you for the memories. x Wendy (gibson) Hill

So sorry to hear of Allen’s passing. He was a wonderful man and clinician. He was a regular in the physician lounge at the hospital. I enjoyed many a Friday evening with him at Marmiton. I also enjoyed bumping into him at Pusateri and discussing what he was buying for his menu that day. Before Covid, he would still attend Medicine rounds on Tuesday mornings. It was always nice chatting with him. He will be missed by all of us at NYGH.

I was saddened to read of Allan's death. I met Al as a fellow gastroenterologist at monthly Gut Club meetings we had years ago at Sunnybrook Hospital. I found Allan to be intelligent and an engaging. He loved to chat and we shared many good conversations. I know he was an excellent athlete, especially hockey player and suffered degenerative hip problems later in life because of the body checks he absorbed while playing. He had strong opinions, but who doesn't? I never left an occasion with Al without smiling and feeling better for our being together. I do miss those times.
I extend sincerest condolences on your loss of a wonderful human being.

Sending our condolences to the whole Hart family. A memory I have of Dr. Hart was when he introduced me to Kim Crawford wine as he was barbecuing a beautiful set of steaks one night on their rear patio. Another great memory was Dr. Hart and Georgia visiting my parents on Lake Rosseau for afternoon cocktails along with Dave, myself and my wife, Carolyn. So sorry to hear the news.
