It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerry Casaubon, at Victoria Hospital on Monday, October 31, 2023, in his 80th year.
Gerry was a loving husband to Marilyn Susan Casaubon for 54 beautiful years, a testament to their enduring love and commitment. His memory will forever be cherished by his children, Marc (Karen), Stephanie (Mark Eys), and Sean. Gerry was an adoring grandfather to Colin, Emma, Ryan, Abby, Lena, Simon, and Baxter. He was also a supportive brother to Andre Casaubon. Gerry will be deeply missed by Nancy and Gord, Laura and Mike, Ted and Mickey, Wayne and Barbara, and Dave and Andrea.
Predeceased by his parents, Theophile (2001) and Doris Casaubon (2022), and his grandson Nathan (2009), Gerry leaves behind a legacy of warmth and affection.
Gerry devoted much of his life to education, serving as a retired Catholic high school French and religion teacher. His passion for teaching was not confined to the classroom; he was a coach for high school sports and dedicated 20 years to volunteering with Meals on Wheels.
Sports played a significant role in Gerry's life. He enjoyed various athletic activities with friends and family, including hockey, golf, tennis, ping pong, and billiards.
Gerry was not only an active participant in sports but also a culinary enthusiast. He loved cooking and barbecuing, and his popcorn was shared among family and friends. Another of Gerry's greatest joys was supporting his grandchildren in their extracurricular activities. He attended their games, performances, recitals, and events with pride, showcasing his unwavering love and encouragement.
Gerry will forever be remembered for his incredible sense of humor and his ability to find happiness in the simple joys of life. He approached every day with a smile and a positive outlook that brightened the lives of those around him. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Cremation has taken place. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Gerry’s life will be held at Donohue funeral home on Saturday, November 18th from 1-4 pm.
