Claude was very funny! Everytime we would exchange our “how’s your day been” stories he would offer “do you want me to litigate for you???” lol he will sincerely be missed !

Dear Christine, Victoria, Marc, Jon and family. Our sincerest condolences.
Claude is the last close link to our family as a cousin to my father's family. My father's sister Rosy Magliano passed away in Italy a few days prior to Claude at 93. They were very close cousins and always enjoyed a visit when she was visiting Canada.
My sister's Doris Pallone and family, Mary Verdel and family are visiting Italy and send their condolences.

Claude was always ready to offer sage counsel to many, including myself, first in my role as a journalist and later as a Liberal staffer in the office of Premier David Peterson. In all of our encounters, his primary concern was what was in the public interest, a quality that prevailed throughout his illustrious career as a lawyer and political advisor. Others have said it before, but it bears repeating: Claude always demonstrated the highest integrity. He was a model of honesty, generosity and, despite the seriousness of his life's work, frequently exercised a beguiling sense of humour. It was a privilege - and a joy - to know him. I send my sincerest condolences to the family on there profound loss. - George Hutchison

I wish to extend my sincere sympathies to the family of Claude Pensa. I first met him in 1981 when I was a Trustee on the London Board of Education, and Claude was the board lawyer. I have always enjoyed my interactions with him ever since that time.
Claude was a first class gentleman who is truly one of the giants in the community of London. He made many outstanding contributions in a wide variety of ways: the law, politics, and charitable works to name the most obvious. He made an enormous contribution to the life of London's citizens, and he will be sorely missed.
Claude is in our prayers for the repose of his soul, as well as his family in this time of grief. May he rest in peace!

I articled for Giffen Pensa in 1981 and 1982 when their office was located on Waterloo Street. Mr. Pensa ( I still feel it necessary to address him that way for some reason even though his is no longer my boss) and his firm gave me a last minute articling position when I was looking for one (somehow I think the fact that we both had Italian heritage born to Italian immigrants had something to do with it, but I don't know for sure). My articling experience working with the firm and Mr. Pensa was a scary one (I called it "learning by terror") but that was only because they gave us a lot of responsibility with proper mentoring, much more than other firms (even though he made me deliver mail for one week during a postal strike!). I credit that firm and my articleing experience in part for my success later on in my practice of law. I still draw upon experiences which I had during my articling and from the mentoring I received from him. I recall how we made a point of participating in firm social events, including baseball games, Christmas parties, etc. He had such a pleasant and genuine sense of humour. He had a keen interest in mentoring and getting to know the articling students. I also recall the famous "Oyster Party" which was held for firm clients at that time, I believe it was at the Garage, a restaurant in downtown London. Later on it became so popular that they moved it to a bigger venue, the art gallery, and despite the fact that I was not hired back, I kept getting invited to this party for over 10 years after I finished my articles. It was an epic event and spoke volumes, by the people who attended, of how respected he he was in the community. I very much appreciated Mr. Pensa's taking me and the other students and associates under his wing and getting us on our way to the practice of law. It was obvious to me how well he respected he was in the community. This was way before I learned of all of his accomplishments after that, including winning the Law Society Metal. He practised law for over six decades, I am in my fourth decade now, and in a way, that inspires me to keep going. My condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, associates and everyone that knew him and are mourning his loss. He was a great man, what more can you say about a person.

I will always remember meeting Mr. Pensa in 1998 when I worked for Adolfo and Theresa Ferraro. Mr. Pensa just looked at me and said: 'You're Tom Seldon's daughter'. My Dad, a lawyer, died in 1957. That was just such a moment for me to think that this man remembered my father. What a kind, generous and thoughtful person Mr. Pensa was. My very sincere condolences to his family.

Dear Jon, Victoria, Marc, and Christine, Claude will be remembered and respected by so many of us for his philanthropy and his kind and gentle ways--a true gentleman in every sense--but above all I will remember him for his love of family. My heart is heavy for your loss because from my experience the loss of our parents leaves a void that can never be filled, no matter how much or little time we have had the privilege of having them in our lives. My heart is also heavy because he is the last close link to my dear dad who admired and loved his cousin dearly. I’m so grateful to him for his concern for my mother’s well being after my dad passed away, in spite of his own health issues. Our deepest sympathies go to all of you and your entire family on the loss of your beloved patriarch.
With love and continued prayers for Claude and all of you, Velda (Tonini) and John Ambrose

To Christine, Victoria, Mark and John - your Dad was the absolute best. There are so many great memories especially all the fun times with him and your Mom. She was such a huge leader of our London Ladies Literary League. Lynne Cram and I were remembering the time we took your Dad to lunch when he was at Parkwood Hospital and he didn't tell anyone he was going. He thought that was such a hoot. Little did we know that this was an absolute no - no. Sorry Christine for the worry. He lit up the room whenever he was around and he always had the best stories to tell. They broke the mold when he was born. Thanks for sharing him with all of us. Hugs to all of you. Suzanne (Aziz)
