Obituary of John James Rockwood
Rockwood, John (Johnny)
Passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully at home on Wednesday June 28th, 2023, in London, Ontario. John was in his 74th year. Loving father to Tom Rockwood (Miku) and Tracy Rockwood-Duffy (Brian). Proud grandfather of Tio, Xavier, Kaede and Yukino. Much loved brother of Michael, Gary (Mary), Julie (Tom) Carol (Michael), brother-in-law Rick Post, uncle to Nathan, Darryl, Carly, and Mariah, and many cousins and lifelong friends in both London and Calgary. Predeceased last fall by his sister Mary Post (Rick), and his parents Frank and Regina Rockwood.
John enjoyed both watching and playing baseball, hockey, and car racing. John had his own business for over 55 years and showed the true meaning of putting in an honest day’s work and possessing a genuine work ethic. The most important things in his life were Tom and Tracy, and his grandchildren, whom he loved deeply. Although distance separated them, John never missed an opportunity to connect and tell them and others about the pride and pure joy that they brought to his life. His absence will leave a gap that will never be able to be filled. We will miss you Dad/Grandpa Rockwood.
Visitation will be held on July 29th, 2023, from 11:00am - 12pm, with a service to follow at 12 noon, at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street. To send expressions of sympathy please visit www.donohuefuneralhome.ca
Do Not Stand At My Grave and Weep
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
