My condolences to your family. Brad was a friend of my father, Art Obokata. Dad and Brad both competed at the 1985 World Masters' Games in Rome, Italy. My dad won a gold medal in 400 m hurdles. After the games were over, Art and Brad spent some time backpacking around Italy. My dad was much older than Brad, having been born in 1919, but he and Brad got along well. My sympathies on your family's loss.
