Obituary of Yacob Mekoya

Yacob Mekoya was born in Dar es Salaam Tanzania on 03 July 2000. He completed his elementary education in Tanzania, Australia and Indonesia respectively. He finished his junior high school in Red Lake Ontario in April 2014. In September 2015 he joined Catholic Central High School and graduated in 2018. Immediately upon graduation he joined Fanshawe College and obtained an electrician-construction and maintenance certificate in 2018. In October 2021 he moved temporarily to Kitchener Ontario to be with his elder sister. Heartbreakingly, on 21 October 2022, at the age of 22 years and 3 months, while in the company of his friends he died due to unknown reason, yet to be known. Yacob was very much interested in music since his childhood. In 2010 he took part in the Indonesian Idle competition, at the age of 9, and finished 10th. He has authored and created a variety of several songs. He also loved to play basketball. Yacob was warm, loving, cheerful, joyous, energetic, and full of life. We dearly miss him immeasurably. He is survived by his parents Sara Mersha and Mekoya Wondrad and his siblings Derseh, Amde-Michael and Eden Mekoya. May the almighty rest his soul in peace !!
