Edward George Champagne

August 23, 1935 – July 23, 2022

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we share the passing of E. George Champagne in his 87th year. To condense the accomplishments of this incredible man into a few paragraphs is an impossible task. George was a loving husband, and an incredible father to 5 children, pépé to 8 grandchildren, and friend to all - whose mischievous side could always be seen in his twinkling blue eyes and wry smile. Born in Windsor, Ontario, he met and married his beautiful wife of 64 years Alice (nee Beaune), served in the Royal Canadian Air Force, then settled in London, Ontario in 1966 to raise his growing family.

George always gave his heart and soul to those around him, becoming an Akela in the Cub Scouts of Canada when his 2 sons were young, but remaining for many years afterwards – sharing his life skills and values with so many. He was gregarious, a true gentleman, a handy man, and an accomplished curler - winning several Ontario championships. In addition to caring for family, friends, and neighbours, he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, COR, Marriage Encounter and Cursillo in his parish, and an extraordinary cook who could effortlessly throw together banquets for hundreds of people. He loved preserving pickles, beets, relish, and chili sauce, and took great pleasure in sharing his favourite recipes and personal tips and tricks in the kitchen. His passion for the great outdoors, gardening, and cooking, was shared with his children - creating cherished memories that, like his gardens, will continue to bloom in our thoughts and hearts.

Cremation has taken place. Private family service to be held. Arrangements have been entrusted to Donohue Funeral Home.
