Obituary of Valerie Veronica Cox
Peacefully passed away at her home surrounded by the love of her family on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at the age of 95. Cherished mother to Valerie Grant, Teresa Eldridge, Geoffrey (Janice) Cox, Angela Tower, Robert Cox, and Elizabeth Kirkpatrick. Dear Granny to Leah, Geoffrey (Katie), Sarah (Ben), Steven, Nathan (Katie), Michelle and Emily. Dear Great Granny to Dylan, Hailey, Keira, Rhylen, William, Wesley, Wyatt, Lilianna, Charlotte, and Gwendolyn. Dear sister of Eugene Walczak. Dear Aunt to Margaret, Sarah, Kevin, Aaron, Anna, Joesph, Wanda, Emily, and Nick. Predeceased by her parents Nicholas and Maria Walczak, siblings Stella (Kevin) Nash, Mary (Harold) Atkinson, sister-in-law Mary Walczak, daughter-in-law Wendy Cox and son-in-law Leonard Danton. Valerie was born on April 1, 1926, in Łowce, Poland. She served in the Canadian Women’s Army Corps (WWII). She retired from a long service with Service Canada and remained an active member of St. Peter’s Cathedral Basilica CWL. Thank you to Veterans Affairs Canada, St. Joseph’s Heart Failure Clinic, Middlesex-London EMS Services, Cardiac Care Services of University Hospital. Special thanks to Dr. Natalie Hertzman and the Palliative Care Outreach Team of St. Joseph’s Hospice, the visiting nurse Scott from St. Elizabeth and Health Care Technicians from the VON. They made mom’s final days at home comfortable and peaceful. Visitors are welcome to John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Thursday, January 6th, 2022 from 4:00pm-6:00pm (1/2 hr. increments). A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 7th, 2022 at 10 o'clock at St. Peter’s Cathedral Basilica, 196 Dufferin Ave, interment to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Due to COVID-19 restrictions as per the Bereavement Authority of Ontario a limited number of people are able to attend the visitation and service.
