Although we lived close to Linda for many years, we did not get to know her until about 6 years ago. I dropped off some information from the CWL of St. John the Divine. We instantly became friends. Our visits were always fun as she had so many interesting stories to tell, she stayed knowledgeable of current events (with an opinion), always asked about happenings at the church and was keen on knowing about our family including the cats and dogs. My daughter, Jessica, became friends with Linda as well. Jessica loved to bake and share with Linda her favourite recipes. In response, Linda sent over cookie and candy treats. In good times we laughed together and in difficult times, we supported one another with prayer. A few years ago Linda shared with us some very unusual books on learning the language of the Indigenous people of Nunavut. They are now housed in archives of the Department of Linguistics at UBC. Linda was very pleased about that. Linda was a good friend and we shall miss her. She will always be in our hearts. Johanna and Jessica Hurd
