Obituary of Doris Bernice Furanna
Furanna, Doris Bernice
On October 29, 2020 In her 104th year Doris Bernice (Scott) Furanna passed peaceful at The Village of Glendale Crossing. Born August 17th, 1917 to Adamina Ferguson (1962) and Thomas Scott (1954), Doris was the youngest of three daughters (Ada and Olive). Doris is predeceased by her beloved husband of 51 years, Anthony Joseph Furanna (1990), their daughter Judith Lee Zander (2000) and son-in-law Wayne Zander (2011).
Doris was a consummate homemaker and fantastic cook. She was a talented crafter who enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, paper tole and ceramics just to name a few. She touched many lives, lived through and experienced several historical milestones and always enjoyed debating current events. Her feisty spirit will be missed.
Her legacy lives on in her grandchildren, Jeffrey Zander (Laurie), Tracey Pace (Joseph), Lisa Nixon (Derek) and Nicole Zander (Robert Hurren) as well as her great grandchildren Justin Zander (Melissa), Benjamin Zander (Jasmin), Jacob Pace (Stephanie), Emma-Leigh Pace (Victoria), Wilson, Aric and Maxwell Nixon, Samantha and Ethan Hurren. It was a blessing that she was able to meet both of her great, great granddaughters Addison and Bridget Pace.
The family extends gratitude and thanks to Longworth Retirement Home and Glendale Crossing for the years of good friendship and excellent care.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private family Funeral Mass with interment at St. Peter's Cemetery will take place. In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Breast Cancer Society or Ivey Eye Institute would be appreciated. (John T. Donohue Funeral Home)
