I met Peg first through my sister, Grace Zehr. Peg and Grace became Reiki Masters at the same time and also both practised reflexology. They were friends for many years and I know they spoke daily on the telephone and were a strong support for each other. When my sister moved to a nursing home in Strathroy I developed a friendship with Peg and she drove with me several times to visit Grace.
Since Clare and I had taken several levels of reiki training too, after Grace’s death we invited Peg to join our group, and so our friendship blossomed. After we moved to Waterloo 2.5 years ago our visits together were infrequent, but we shared long and meaningful telephone chats. Sometimes when I would call she would be sad and very soft-spoken but before the call ended she would be telling stories, laughing, and maybe even singing a song. She would enjoy if Clare would play a favorite song on the piano and while I would hold up the telephone so she could hear the music she would sing for us. This happened, especially in December.
Peg was a wonderful person, very caring, wise, and compassionate, and we will miss her very much. We were truly gifted to have experienced such a special friendship. We send our sincerest sympathies to all of Peg's family.
