Sister Jane Marie Stock

Obituary of Sister Jane Marie Stock

Stock, Sister Jane Marie The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada is saddened to announce the death of our dear Sister Jane Marie Stock at the Residence of the Sisters of St. Joseph, 485 Windermere Road in London. Sister Jane Marie died on August 25, 2020, surrounded by the loving presence of Sister Sheila Fortune, Sister Ann Marshall and her cousin, Sister Kathy O’Keefe. She was accompanied and supported on the last part of her journey by her community members and the Care Centre staff. Sister Jane Marie was born in 1922 in Young, Saskatchewan, and joined the Community of the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1953. She is remembered with affection by all her CSJ Sisters, as well as nieces Jane (Dale) Sheward, Iris Allen, and Doris Schulz, her many other nieces and nephews and her Ontario family connections. Predeceased by her mother, Jane (Hussey), father, William James Stock, her sisters Veronica (Richard) Godfrey, Mary (Charles) Allen, and brothers, Thomas (Juliette), Harold (Josephine) James (Theresa), Charles (Rose) and John (Wilma) Stock. Sister Jane Marie was trained in finance and business administration. From 1955 until 1979 she was Assistant Executive Director of Finances and General Services at St. Joseph’s Hospital, London. Later she served for 15 years as General Treasurer of the Congregation of Sisters of St. Joseph. While an astute and gifted financial administrator, Sr. Jane Marie cared deeply for the people she worked with and served. She made a point of getting to know many of the employees at St. Joseph’s, and at the Mount, and kept in touch with them and their families by phone and visits long after she and they had retired. Jane Marie had a keen sense of humour, sharp wit and down to earth way about her. She observed much and spoke little, respecting confidences totally, and accepting others as they were. A clear thinker, she didn’t easily put up with “fluff”, and could deflect criticism with a kind and humorous comment. Due to the current pandemic, there will be no public services. A private burial service will be held, with a memorial Mass and a celebration of her life to be scheduled at a later date. To live stream the service on Friday morning, August 28th, at 11 o’clock please use https://event.forgetmenotceremonies.com/ceremony?c=fcb621da-4e7b-45ac-9d0b-f6876a817034
