Weiler, John Joseph Anthony
Peacefully passed away at Victoria Hospital on November 7, 2015 in his 72nd year. Beloved wife of Patricia (nee Brand) for 43 years. Loving father of Michael James “Jamie” (Shannon) Weiler and Mark Jonathan Weiler.Proud grandfather of Brady, Samantha and Hayden. Brother of Patrick (Elaine) Weiler and the late Michael Weiler (1970). Brother-in-law to Sandra (Serge) de Sousa and Margaret (Robin Orr) Brand. Predeceased by his parents Anthony and Honora (nee Driscoll) Weiler. Uncle John will be missed by his nieces, grandnieces and grandnephews. John was born and raised in Sarnia. He had a 25-year career as a social worker, which ended when he was disabled by Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. His faith was very important to him, which he expressed by involvement in social justice issues. John’s first priority was his family. He was proud of his sons and was deliberate in making time for them. He was Pat’s number one cheerleader, encouraging her in her many interests. His grandchildren brought him great joy in his last few years. At different points in his life John enjoyed scouting, running, photography, and writing. His love for Maryhill, where his Weiler ancestors settled, led to his passion for genealogy and writing a book telling stories of the Weilers. Family is grateful for the compassionate care provided by Dr. Nicholas Power and his team, as well as the staff on C5 and C6 at Victoria Hospital. Visitors will be received at the John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street on Thursday evening, November 12th from 6-9 o’clock.
