Every Sunday for 12 years in a row when we lived in London, my family would head over to Grama and Grandpa's house on Sunday afternoon after church. My sisters and I would play with the cardboard giraffe puzzles (match the head to the body!) or down in the basement on the treadmill (probably from 1920) with the other cousins. Grama always made sure we left with a little baggie of goldfish crackers for the ride home! Grama was so witty and quick to make a joke. One day I proudly told her I had come in 28th place in my school cross-country race (which I thought was pretty good!). As I told her, she developed this devious smile on her face and then asked as she started laughing, "How many people were in the race? 29?" She was such a special woman and I think I can speak for all of her grandchildren to say we were lucky to have had her in our lives.

To all of you, My deepest sympathy in the loss of such a truly special lady. In the early 70's I would come to London to babysit my cousins who lived just steps from your home. Holy Rosary was a special place, I remember your parents being such a special part of the church community. I loved her tenacity in writing the special article when the church was closing. May your many memories surround you in love and bring you peace. Sharon Biskaborn

Our families sometimes exchanged cousins during the summer holidays. Doug would come to Toronto. and stay with Kevin and I would stay with the Smalls and play all day with Joanie. We would meet in Goderich or Kincardine and change kids back again. One trip when it was my turn to stay in London, we were on our way to Goderich for a kid change back and family picnic. Aunt Kay very kindly allowed me to sit in the front with her, Uncle Fred and baby Mary. The rest of my cousins were all piled in the back seat. Mary pulled the keys out of the ignition with her bare toes and promptly threw them out the window (it was an old model car). We all spent the next hour or so at the side of a county road searching for the keys with the car still running (of course). Someone eventually found them and we all jumped back in the car and made our way to Goderich. When we got there Uncle Fred spotted my dad, John, circling around the town square looking for us. So he very cleverly pulled up behind him and followed Dad around the circle several times before Dad wised up to the game. Those were good times, Though we have lost touch over the years, I will miss Aunt Kay as I miss Uncle Fred. Deepest condolences to all of my cousins. Bonnie (Mary French-May)

I have so many fond memories of Grandma, from giving us baggies of goldfish crackers when we visited to letting us help her with her puzzles. She was an amazing lady with a loving spirit who touched the lives of many, and she will be missed deeply. My sisters and I love you and are so thankful for your influence on our lives. I will honour your memory by showing kindness to everyone I meet in life.

To the Small family Your Mom was a wonderfup lady. She will always hold a very special spot in my heart. My thoughts and prayers are withyou at this very sad time. I am so very thankful for the time I got to spend with your Mom. She always brightened my day always talking about her beloved Fred and all her children and there families. I am so blessed to be a part of her life.

I wish I could be there to celebrate Grandma's life with the family in London. She touched so many people in her life and I am honoured to be named after her. I will always fondly remember Grandma for her wit, kindness and perseverance (and of course her sweet tooth, which I am sure she has passed down to me)! It is wonderful to know that she is at peace now and is reunited with Grandpa after so many years apart. Miss you and love you Grandma! xox Kate (and Nando) Pettem

Both Bill and I want to express our sympathy with the whole Small family at this time. Kay was the "Mother of Holy Rosary Parish". In her own quiet way she made sure that our Pastor was looked after. We have many fond memories, both of Kay and her husband Fred. They represented Holy Rosary Parish in the best possible way and we will never forget them. The two of us now live at Windermere on the Mount and have no transportation to come to the Funeral. Rest assured that both Kay and Fred will remain in our prayers. May God bless you all. To the Small Family: Sadly, over the years past, I have lost touch with your family, except through my daughter, Brenda. I have fond memories of the days when the Atkinson & Small family helped to physically build Holy Rosary Church. I cannot attend the Funeral as I am committed to speak to a class of children at the RCR Museum at the same time. Please accept my sincere sympathy at your loss.

I recall fondly, the many times my family made the trek from Toronto to London on a Sunday to visit with Aunt Kay, Uncle Fred and the cousins. The house was full of love and freshly made brownies, not to forget the jellied salads. When the family visited us in Toronto, they would arrive exactly on time. My dad was sure that Aunt Kay made Uncle Fred wait around the corner until the clock struck noon. Our thoughts and prayers to all my cousins and their families. Aunt Kay with her gentle and loving nature, will surely be missed.
Love, Maureen, Dave and Jake Leschert
