Obituary of Kenneth Regan

Peacefully, at LHSC University Hospital after a brief illness, Monday Sept. 16, 2013 with family at his side, Kenneth Jerome Regan. Beloved husband of Marion (Neale, 2005). Wonderful father to children Shelley MacKenzie (Bill), Susan, Peter (Lissa), Judy Hannivan (John), John (Tracey Swift), Mark (Tracy), Jeff (Suzanne Bernier, 2007), Shannon (Tony Stokes). Loving grandfather of Danielle, Amy, Melissa, Sarah, Jessica, Mark, Mary, Leah, Michael, Ryan, Brooklyn, Kennedy, Allie and Emily. Fondly remembered by his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Born in 1929, Ken grew up in St. Thomas, ON., and spent his summers in Logan Township. Ken's vocation was education. His career began in a one-room school house outside Belmont, took him through schools in Windsor, on to the old Ontario Department of Education, and culminated with more than 25 years as Director of Education for the London -Middlesex County Roman Catholic Separate School Board. Ken's love was family and Sunday roast beef dinners. His hobbies included gardening and officiating football. For 55 years Ken officiated football in the London region. He was a founding parishioner of St. Pius X-Holy Family Catholic Church in London, where his wonderful tenor voice could still be heard at Sunday Mass as recently as two weeks ago. Friends and relatives will be received by the family at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo St, at King St., London, Tuesday evening from 7-9 o'clock and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 o'clock. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter's Cathedral Basilica, 196 Dufferin Ave., London, on Thursday morning at 11 o'clock. Interment at St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to the Marion Regan Bursary, Kings University College Foundation, Western University, 266 Epworth Ave., London, N6A 2M3, or the Suzanne Bernier Memorial Award in Skeletal Biology, care of Donna Swanson, Foundation Western, Suite 110, Westminster College, Western University, London, N6A3K7.
