It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Dunbar (Trudell), who passed away peacefully on November 25th, 2024, in her 71st year. Barb was surrounded by her loving family and her devoted, loving partner, Mark Hennion, as she made her journey to rest.
Barb was the cherished mother of Kelly Dunbar (Paul Susi) and a proud grandmother to Willa, who brought her endless joy. Barb's love, guidance, and selflessness defined her role as a mother and created a foundation of strength and compassion for Kelly to carry forward in her own family.
Barb was the beloved daughter of the late Jean and Bill Trudell and is predeceased by her brother, Peter. She is survived and loved by her siblings, Mary Jane, Bill (Jennifer), Carole, and Paul (Jane), along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Barb was blessed with a wide circle of friends, including her dear friend Allan, who all enriched her life and helped her live it to the fullest. Her vibrant spirit, kindness, and infectious enthusiasm created deep and meaningful relationships that left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Despite the challenges of Alzheimer's, Barb's journey was brightened by the incredible caregivers who became her extended family. Her family is profoundly grateful to the compassionate teams at Henley Place, Extended Families, and the private PSWs who all cared for Barb with exceptional kindness, love, and dignity. These individuals brought light and comfort to Barb's life and became part of her story in the most meaningful way.
Barb loved life and embraced it with passion and purpose. She had an exceptional career at the London Free Press, where her dedication and talent left a lasting legacy. Barb was the visionary behind the beloved Reader to Reader section, an initiative that connected countless families and individuals socially. This became a cherished space for community engagement and reflection, showcasing Barb's unique ability to bring people together.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Barb's memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society or a charity of your choice.
Barb's family invites you to join them for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, December 7th, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at The Springs Restaurant (310 Springbank Drive) in London. Stop by for a visit as we look to celebrate and toast Barb!
