My condolences to the family. Barb was a valued colleague during my years on the editorial board at The London Free. Our desks were back to back and we established a comfortable rapport from the beginning, sharing many laughs, telling stories about our dogs (her beloved duck toller Casey) and firing off good-natured zings about who was booking all that vacation time (it was Barb, by a wide margin).
Barb was essential to the work of the editorial board. As the long-time letters editor, she could separate the cranks from the considerate, knew the habitual and recognized the honorable. This is wisdom that is difficult to quantify but is so invaluable. She was quite willing to intercept the inevitable phone calls from these letter writers if they complained about the treatment of their letter or just plain wanted to talk. It was a thankless task that Barb did with aplomb and a good nature that never seemed to desert her. She made The London Free Press and those of us on the editorial board look good every day.
The depth of her connection with Free Press readers was later well established with the creation of the Reader to Reader feature, a singular initiative of Barb’s, one she shepherded with much care and diligence. She was justifiably proud of it as we were of her.

Sincere condolences to Barb's family. I was fortunate to get to know this amazing woman in my 10 years at the London Free Press. She was one of the people you looked forward to seeing at work, with her infectious smile, incredible sense of humor, and her beauty, both on the inside and out.
One of the amazing things I learned about Barb was that she had a unique relationship with each of her co-workers and friends. All different, but all special.
She was so quick with a smile and always had something to say, both positive and sometimes sarcastic as well, but all in the best of humor.
Miss you Barbie, you were a shining light to all of us. We will miss that vibrant smile, but will remember it always.
Love
Tom Hedican.

It is with my sincerest and dearest condolences, that I extend my sympathies to the
Trudell family and Kelly and Mark Hennion. Barb was a lovely and dear friend of mine and she left her mark on so many lives.... family and friends. She had a great optimistic outlook on life and spread that happiness amongst so many. She was loved by all.
God bless you Baba
