KIVELL, Brent

June 8, 1959 – Sept. 6, 2023

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Brent Kivell at Victoria Hospital, nine years after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

He is survived by Carla, his devoted and cherished wife of 31 years.

Beloved brother to his siblings and their partners: Brenda, Bonnie (Kevin), Brad (Kim), Beckie (Glenn), Tammy, Darrin (Dawn), and Dana (Terry). Predeceased by his parents Reggie and Joan, and his sister Barbara (1993). Dear brother-in-law to Lisa (John), Tony (Barb), and Christine (Stephen). Brent will be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, and their children. He will be fondly remembered by his many friends, especially Barry.

Brent was an outgoing, sociable person who had an uncanny ability for getting to know people. He had an irrepressible enthusiasm for life, and despite his health issues, he always put others before himself. Brent looked forward to and enjoyed his holidays in British Columbia and Turks and Caicos. Brent loved the outdoors, and engaged in sports throughout his life. He competed in track and field, played baseball, bowled, and loved nothing better than to be out in a boat with his siblings and friends. Brent was a Detroit Lions fanatic and a converted Blue Jays fan. An avid golfer, as well as a volunteer marshal, his absence will be sorely felt by his second family at FireRock Golf Club. We are indebted to the club’s director, Amanda, whose kindness to Brent was greatly appreciated.

We are forever grateful to all the amazing and dedicated medical staff who touched Brent’s life. A heartfelt thanks goes out to Dr. Ken Leslie, who first performed the Whipple procedure on Brent in 2014, and continued to care for and treat Brent over the years.

Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street, on Sunday, September 10 from 1:00-2:00 pm, followed by a service at 2:00 pm.

In keeping with Brent’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Inurnment and a celebration of Brent’s life will be announced at a later date. Online condolences may be made at https://donohuefuneralhome.ca/

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honour Brent are encouraged to consider donating to The Baker Centre for Pancreatic Cancer (London Health Sciences Foundation).
