Rourke, Brian Charles
Peacefully at home in Charleston, South Carolina on 29 October 2015, Brian Charles Rourke passed away after a long battle with cancer. Brian was born in London, Ontario on 5 March 1936 and attended De La Salle High School as well as McGill University in Montreal. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Evelyn (Dawe) Rourke, daughters Caroline Rourke of Seattle and Kathleen Daniels (Jason) of Kansas City. He leaves a grandson, Jarod, and 3 step-grandsons, Hank, JJ and Nicholas of Kansas City; brothers Patrick W. Rourke (Alanna) of Montreal and A. John Rourke (Dianne) of Toronto; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents John S. Rourke and M. Elinor (Wilson) Rourke as well as his brothers J. Terence Rourke of London and M. Charles Rourke of Winnipeg and his sister Janet (Rourke) Schwob of London. Brian was much beloved for his great sense of humour and devotion to his family. He will also be remembered for his love of geography and history which he was able to indulge during a lifetime of worldwide travels, including his years in international banking in California, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Bahrain. Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Friday, 5 November from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 7:00 -9:00 pm. Funeral Mass at St. Michael's Church, 511 Cheapside Street, on Saturday, 6 November at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Brian’s memory may be made to Pethelpers (www.pethelpers.org) or a similar charity of your choice.
