Obituary of Sister Mary Lilian Kuntz
The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada, London site, Announce the death of our dear Sister Mary Lillian Kuntz in our Care Centre, October 23, 2015, in her 80th year of life and 62nd year of
religious life. Beloved daughter of the late Edward Kuntz and Margaret Ward. Lovingly remembered by her brother, Edward (Lou) Kuntz, sisters, Patricia O'Grady, Barbara Schmuck, Margaret (Charles) Downing, and
several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sisters, Sister Dolores Kuntz, OSU, and Sister Paula Kuntz, M.M. (Elizabeth Louise), and brothers-in-law William O'Grady and Tom Schmuck. Sister Mary Lillian was a dedicated and caring teacher and principal for 24 years, serving in elementary and secondary schools in London, and in Yellowknife, NWT. She also travelled to Uganda to assist in the education of teachers there. After her retirement from teaching, she obtained her licentiate in Canon law and served for an additional 25 years in the marriage tribunal in the diocese of Nelson B.C. also making a great contribution to various Diocesan committees and as treasurer of the Sisters' Council. Sister was a creative fund raiser for the Kenyan missions, where her sister, Sister Paula served as a Maryknoll missioner. She was an avid
bridge player, eager to share a game, and a helpful mentor to others who wanted to improve their game. She also loved crossword puzzles, and had a keen and insightful mind for problem solving of any kind. She is
remembered for her clarity of thought, her willingness to share her learning with others, and a keen sense of humour. All services will be held at the residence of the Sisters of St. Joseph, 485 Windermere Rd., London. Visitation Sunday October 25th from 2:30pm - 4pm and 6:30pm - 8:00pm. Evening Prayer at 6:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Monday, October 26 at 11 am. Interment: St. Peter's Cemetery. (John T. Donohue Funeral Home)
