Suddenly at LHSC University Hospital on Sunday, September 27, 2015, John P. Ferris in his 83rd year. Survived by his loving wife of 56 years Joan (nee Murray) Ferris. Proud father of Barbara (Vito) Frijia, Richard (Michelle) Ferris, and Christopher (Caroline) Ferris. Loving grandfather and sorely missed by his grandchildren Michael, Mark, Daniel, and Lauren Frijia, Jacqueline, Kathryn and Joseph Ferris and Mackenzie Ferris. Dear brother of Sister Margaret Ferris CSJ of London and brother-in-law of Mary Ferris of Sarnia, Anne Murray of London, and Margaret O'Brien of Fort Erie. Predeceased by his siblings May (Lorne) O'Meara, Harry Ferris and Eileen Ferris. Uncle John will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and cousins. John was a long time employee of London Life and dedicated his life to public service as a trustee on both the public and catholic school boards and as a MPP from '75-'78. John was involved in numerous volunteer activities in his life. He was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus, a member of the Alhambra, a senator on the Western Fair Board, the Monsignor Feeney Foundation and an active parishoner in St. George Parish community. The family would like to thank the University Hospital doctors and nurses and the London Regional Cancer Program staff for their care of John. Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Wednesday, September 30 from 2-4 and 6-9 o'clock. Prayers will be held at 6 o'clock. Funeral Mass will be held at St. George Parish, 1164 Commissioners Road West, on Thursday morning at 11 o'clock. Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to London Regional Cancer Program c/o LHSF.ca would be appreciated.
