Obituary of Sister Rosary Fallon
SISTER ROSARY FALLON
The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada, London Site, announce the death of our dear Sr. Rosary (Irene Josephine Fallon) at home in our Care Centre, April 17, 2015. Born in 1917, Sister was received into the community in 1937. We celebrate her 77 years of commitment during this Year of Consecrated Life. Lovingly remembered by her Sisters in community, numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by her parents Ella Phelan and Charles Fallon, her sister Edith (John Stinchcombe), brothers Francis (Mary), Wilfred (Cleva), and Jack (Jean). Lovingly remembered by her Sisters in community, her many nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews, as well as cousins. Sister attended Normal School and then later specialized in Primary Methods, Music, Art and Religious Education. Her ministry of teaching extended from 1942 - 1979 in London, Sarnia, Woodstock, Windsor, Tillsonburg, and St. Thomas. Retiring from teaching brought her an opportunity to teach religion in Kelowna, B.C. During her final years of ministry she served as a volunteer at Riverview Hospital, Windsor and St. Mary's Hospital London. We have all grown very fond of Sr. Rosary for sharing her generous gifts of music making and art. Often she would sit at the piano in the Care Centre bringing great joy to the other Sisters, with her ability to play any tune in any key. As was her custom, she loved to tell the stories of her early career playing the piano in her brothers' dance bands in the townships around London. We are grateful also to have some of her paintings grace our halls. A gentle woman, gifted storyteller, Sr. Rosary lived from a deep abiding trust in God's love, and with a tremendous expression of gratitude for all the family, students and friends that kept in touch over the years. Her request is that we celebrate her journey home to God with great joy and happiness. All services will be held at the Sisters Residence, 485 Windermere Rd.
