Obituary of Jerome William Meilleur

Peacefully at London Health Sciences Centre-University Hospital, London, Ontario on Monday, February 23rd, 2015 in his 86th year, Sonny Meilleur of Deep River, beloved husband for 66 years to Joan (Brouse). Loving father of Kathy (Tim Forristal) of London, Mark (Debbie Petrin) and Maureen (Gerry Landers) all of Calgary. Caring grandfather to Rick, Angela (Robert Stacey), Christopher, Ryan, Natalie (Ryan Hohman), Lindsay (Brett Pilkington), Stephanie (Aaron Johnson) and Adam. Proud great grandfather to Allie, Brodie, Carson, Adriana, Gabriella, Isla and Charlotte. Predeceased by parents Joseph and Pamela Meilleur, son Stephen (2000) (Margaret Luffman), grandson Justin (2014), sisters Marion, Eleanor, Rita, Aileen, Georgina and brother Joseph. Sonny will be sadly missed by brother and sister-in-law's Bob (Mary Brouse), Dorothy (Ken Gonneau), Catherine (Art Richards), Carm (Paul Tait) along with many nieces and nephews. Retired from Ontario Hydro, Rapides des Joachims Generating Station in 1989 with over 30 years of service. Sonny loved all types of sports, he was a lifelong member of the Deep River Golf Club and represented The Club throughout the Ottawa Valley competitively for many years. He had a life time of memories along with great stories of fishing, hunting and golfing with his dear buddies. Farewell to the most wonderful man who had the best taste in music, food, sports, travel and how to…. just love life. He truly left lasting imprints with everyone who came across his gentle and welcoming smile, his dangerously impressive golf swing, his wicked left arm on the fastball diamond and his quick jig to set the mood for a great night. Visitation with the family will be one hour (10:00am to 11:00am) prior to the funeral, a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. George Roman Catholic Parish, 1164 Commissioners Road W., London, Ontario on March 19, 2015 at 11:00am.
