Obituary of Celestine Mundy

SISTER CELESTINE MUNDY (Margaret Elizabeth) of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada, London neighbourhood, died peacefully in the Care Centre at the Sisters' Residence on January 20, 2015. Born in 1923, Sister entered the community in 1942. Lovingly remembered by her Sisters in community, her sister Catherine McArdle, sister- in-law Yvonne, and numerous devoted nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her father Joseph and mother Edith Quigley, her brothers Hugh, Francis, Carl, John, and sisters Merrian, Eileen, and Ellen. For 40 years Sr. Celestine taught high school with two terms at St. Joseph's High School in St. Thomas, alternating with two terms at Catholic Central, London. Her final seventeen years were enjoyed at Mount St. Joseph Academy. Retirement from the classroom opened up many opportunities to assist her community of Sisters at home. With a cultured love of music, an awe and wonder about the secrets of the universe, a hearty laugh and a tremendous assurance of God's abiding love, Sister lived her final days surrounded by our caring staff and Sisters.
