Obituary of Carmela Viglianti

Viglianti, Carmela (nee Spataro) Born in Caraffa del Bianco, Italy on February 26, 1913 passed away January 18, 2015 peacefully and with grace at the Dearness Home surrounded by her family. After missing her beloved Vincenzo (1984) for 30 years, God wanted our mother to join him. They were married for 45 years. Mum was predeceased by her parents Francesco and Maria Spataro and her siblings Francesca (Leo Strano) and Antonia (Francesco Franze) as well as Giovanni and Giuseppe Spataro in Italy. Mum will be forever loved by her sons Giuseppe (Connie) and Rocco (Maria) and her daughters Angela (Peter) Diaco and Maria (Giovanni) Zangari. Mum also leaves 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Mum came to Canada in 1952 with her four children across the ocean to start a new life joining our father in Canada. Dad worked while mum was the domestic engineer who steered our family becoming the matriarch of our family now numbering 57. We would like to thank the staff at the Dearness Home for the love and care given to our mother. Visitors will be received at the John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 o'clock. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 345 Lyle Street at York Street on Tuesday January 20, 2015 at 11 o'clock. Entombment in Holy Family Mausoleum at St. Peter's Cemetery. Prayers Monday evening at 8:15 p.m. Donations may be made to the St. Mary's Church Restoration Fund or the Alzheimer Society.
