Obituary of Mary Eileen McHugh

McHugh, Mary (nee Mitchell) Peacefully at University Hospital on Sunday October 26, 2014 in her 90th year, surrounded by family, Mary Eileen McHugh (nee Mitchell) of London, ON, Loving wife of the late Fred McHugh (2000). Dear mother of Aileen Lounsbury, Cecilia McHugh, Rosemary (Rosie) McHugh, Marilyn Martin, Maureen McHugh, Jim McHugh (Saskia) and Kathy Murphy (Dave). Sister of Cecilia Mitchell and Sister-in-law of Sandra Mitchell and Bill McHugh. Predeceased by her parents James and Marie Mitchell, son-in-laws Willis Lounsbury and Barry Martin, and brothers Leo and Brian Mitchell. Mary will be greatly missed by her 11 grandchildren and spouses, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. She will also be missed by her nursing classmates, the "Golden Girls", her wonderful neighbours, and friends from St. Patrick's and the CWL. She was a exceptional nurse who touched the lives of hundreds of new moms and babies when she worked in St. Joseph's nursery for 23 years. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who always had a smile on her face and put everyone else first, treasuring the times spent with her family and friends. A special thanks to the compassionate staff at University Hospital (especially Tammie) who took such great care of Mom in her last hours. Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Tuesday, October 28 from 2-4 and 7-9 o'clock. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Church, 377 Oakland Avenue, on Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery. Prayers Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Scarboro Foreign Missions, or Sisters of the Precious Blood would be appreciated.
