Obituary of Glenna Mae Hodgson

Hodgson, Glenna After an illness that spanned 3 decades, Glenna Mae Hodgson (nee Ellis) passed away peacefully and gracefully at St Joseph's Hospice in London Ontario on February 4 2018 at the age of 58. She is survived by her mother Lorna Ellis and was predeceased by her father Eli Clayton Ellis. She leaves in sadness her husband Mike, and her beloved daughter Meghan. Glenna is also survived by her brother Ken (Wilma) and sister Sharon Veenstra (Arnold). Glenna was born in Clinton Ontario and lived on the family farm in Huron County until she met and married Mike who had been transferred to RBC's Clinton branch. They subsequently lived in London (Ontario), and Toronto before Mike's career took them to Guernsey, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Cayman Islands, and the Isle of Man. Glenna was an integral part of Mike's work life as she was the consummate hostess and made friends easily in all the places they lived. When she was in her late twenties, she was diagnosed with a rare and slow growing cancer which over the next 30 years spread to various parts of her body. However she never allowed her illness to interfere with living her life to the fullest as she was provided with excellent care through hospitals in many countries of the world where she lived. She dealt with her illness with grace over many years, becoming a competitive bridge player. She also enjoyed all sports as both a participant and a fan; she was proud of once winning a season long NFL football pool among an all-male group! Visitation is from 4 to 8 pm on Friday February 9 at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo street, London Ontario. A celebration of life will be held from 2 pm on Saturday February 10 at the London Club, 177 Queens Avenue, London Ontario. Donations to St Joseph's Hospice in London Ontario or the London Health Sciences Foundation would be appreciated.
