A family-first, loving and lively mother and grandma, Kathleen is sadly missed by son, David and wife Karen (Colin and wife Stephanie, Brian, Dylan, Reilly) of Ilderton, daughters Gwenda and husband Peter Chalk (Andrew, Bryan, Nicholas) of Newmarket, Barbara and husband Wayne Newton (Adam, Ian) of London, son Jonathan and wife Janet (Evan, Eric, Caitlin) of Saskatoon, daughters Angela and husband Mark Bennett of Newmarket, Teresa and husband Neil Beaton (Madeline, Julia) of London, great-grandchildren Tulasi, Isis, Odin of Comox, B.C.  She was predeceased by her husband and soulmate of 58 years Alfred “Roy” Taylor in 2004. Also predeceased by parents Anne Webber and Leonard Flaherty and siblings Marie and Frank. Born in Manchester, England, Kathleen and Roy met when they were 12 years old, marrying 10 years later, after surviving the Second World War, she as a sales clerk at Rotunda, and Roy in H.M. Royal Navy. After immigrating to Canada in 1957, (the best decision they ever made, as she often said) they lived in various Ontario locales including Cochrane, Fort Frances, Kemptville, Thornhill and Markham, before retiring in London. The welfare of her six children and husband were Kathleen’s main concern. She was a staunch Roman Catholic who enjoyed strong friendships. She maintained a thirst for knowledge throughout her life, taking a course in short story writing and another in conversational French. Rare that she did not win at Jeopardy, Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit. Kathleen also aced the daily crossword until a few weeks before her death. She was also a proud employee of Marks and Spencers. In retirement she and Roy enjoyed life travelling and visiting with family and their pets as well as actively cheering the pursuits of grandchildren.  Thanks on behalf of Kathleen to the caring staff of McCormick Home where she lived for the past four years.  Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017 at 7- 9 p.m. Visitation will continue at St. George Catholic Church, 1162 Commissioners Road West Wednesday at 9 a.m. until the funeral mass at 10 a.m. Cremation has already taken place.
